Being a Christian is not easy. People hate you for it. They want to break your spirit for speaking up for what God says is right and true. It's hard to try and reach out to someone only to have them throw your words back in your face like you are the village idiot and that you're not making any sense. When the truth is, when you finally let God in and accept Him and his word, how clear everything becomes. It doesn't make life easier, in fact, at times life feels more difficult than ever before but knowing that God will give you strength and wisdom to get through even the toughest of days is so comforting. He will never give us more than we can handle.
Matthew 28:19-20
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
I recently took a stand by saying I will never support abortion and the intentional killing of innocent babies. I was surprised at the negative responses toward my beliefs and values. And the lies people were shoveling back at me that were used as their defense. The saddest part is that they were lying to themselves. I think people want so badly to behave however they want without a conscience that they are willing to create all kinds of ideas and excuses for how they behave and what they believe so that they can justify their reckless lifestyles. My heart is burdened for these people because they are so buried underneath the lies that either they or society has created for them that they can't see the simple truth which is that God loves us and he gave us guidelines not to keep us from enjoying life, but that we might live life to it's fullest potential, the way he had intended before sin entered the world.
I've learned today that you cannot change a man's heart, only God can. Our part is to pray that they open their hearts to Him and the rest is up to God.
